CURIOUS FATAL OCCURRENCE AT THE LOWER HUTT.
A sad fatal accident occurred to a child five years of age at the Lower Hutt at one o''clock yesterday afternoon. The accident took place during the unloading of a dray containing furniture belonging to a settler named William H. Green, who was removing from the Taita. One of the ropes being loosened, a large table fell from the top of the drag, and struck Mr. Green''s little son on the head. The child was killed instantaneously. An inquest was to be held on the body of the child at McIntosh''s Hotel at four o''clock this afternoon.

GREEN.- On the 2nd September, at the Lower Hutt, Joseph James, son, of W. H. and Lucy Anne (sic) Green, aged 5 years and 8 months.

At the inquest at the Lower Hutt on Saturday afternoon, on the body of the child Green, who met with his death owing to a table falling on his head, as already reported, the jury returned a verdict of "Accidental death," no blame being attached to anyone.

THE Friends of the late Mrs. Lucy Ann Green are respectfully invited to attend her Funeral, which will leave the Wellington Hospital To-morrow (Wednesday), the 23rd January, 1889, at 12.30 p.m., arriving at the Taita Cemetery at 2.30 p.m.
