STOODLEY V. STOODLEY
A petition by James Stoodley the husband of Margaret Stoodley, formerly Kane, for a divorce on the ground of adultery.

James Cattell, publican, Wellington, stated he was a witness to the marriage of the parties at St Paul''s Church, Thorndon, Wellington, by the Rev R. D. Paul on the 16th of February, 1854, and they lived happily together after that, until they went to Wairarapa.
Sarah Elizabeth Benge, wife of Edward Benge, and a daughter of the parties, gave evidence as to her father and mother being on service at Mr Revan''s place, Woodside, in 1868, when a man named O''Brien was working there. She remembered her mother and O''Brien leaving Mr Revan''s and O''Brien took away a lot of things beloning to her father which had been packed up in her mother''s bedroom by her mother and O''Brien. Her father was ten miles away at Taratahi, and had been away for a week. She was present at the trial of O''Brien for stealing the things, and she gave evidence. Her father and mother had not been living on good terms for five or six months beofre her mother left, and her father was during that time working away from Mr Revan''s, but used to come home once a week or oftener.
