OBITUARY.
Mrs R. R. WELCH,
The many friends in Wairarapa of Mrs R. R. Welch will regret to hear of her demise, which occurred at her residence, Lansdowne, this morning, the cause of death being pleurisy and pneumonia. The deceased lady, who was 67 years of age, was a very old and highly respected resident of Masterton. She endeared herself to those who knew her by her many acts of kindness aud her willingness to assist those in trouble. She was the relict of the late Richard Read Welch, and was born at Waikanae. The late Mr Welch was one of the early settlers of Opaki, and carried on farming operations until the time of his death, when Mrs Welch conducted the farm for many years. Of late years, however, she has been residing at her residence at Lansdowne.
A family of six — Mesdames A. Owen, R. Bannister, J. F. Fuller, H. Harding, and Messrs Harold Welch and Randal Welch — are left to mourn their loss, and to them will be extended the deep sympathy of a wide circle of friends. Her eldest son, Mr Herbert Welch, died a short time ago.
The funeral will leave the late residence of deceased, Rimu street, Lansdowne, on Monday, at 2.30 p.m.
