A petition was yesterday presented to the House by Mr. G. Beetham from Mr. John Tuck, a well-known Wairarapa settler, who has recently returned for the Old Country, praying that steps may be taken to admit the importation of horses direct from Europe.

Pioneer Settler Flies at 86.
In her 87th year, Mrs. Isabella Grey Tuck, of Hamilton, had her first experience of flying on Saturday, when she was among the passengers for a flight in the monoplane Faith of Australia at Pukuhia. Mrs. Tuck came to New Zealand from Hamilton, Scotland, in 1863, with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Morton. They landed in Port Chalmers from the sailing ship Victory. She was married in 1865 to Mr. John Tuck at Glen Omaru (Romahapa), Otago, and Mr. Tuck following his calling as a sawmiller at Manawatu, Hawke''s Bay and Greymouth. After Mr. Tuck''s death his widow, 18 years ago, came to Hamilton. Mrs Tuck had 19 children, of whom 14 are living still, and there are 60 grandchildren and 62 great-grandchildren, her total number of direct descendants being 145. The pioneer lady, who has ridden on a bullock sledge during her honeymoon 68 years ago, was very please by the new experience of flying.

HAMILTON, Friday.
With the death at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. Rickard, Rototuna, of Mrs. Isabella Gray Tuck, aged 89, an Otago pioneer, is revealed the fact that the aggregate age of her children is 821 years—believed to be a New Zealand record.
Thirteen children survive Mrs. Tuck, and there are 69 grandchildren and 85 great-grandchildren. In all, 167 of her direct descendants are living in New Zealand.
Mrs. Tuck was 87 years of age when she had her first air flight in the mono-plane Faith in Australia. She thoroughly enjoyed it. She was born in Hamilton, Scotland, and came to New Zealand in the ship Victory in 1863 with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Martin (sic).
In 1865 she married the late Mr. John Tuck, of Romahapa, Otago. As a young woman Mrs. Tuck used to assist her husband in pit-sawing and team driving. She had lived in the Hamilton district for 21 years.
