Sudden Death.
A sad sudden death occurred in Feilding yesterday morning, namely, that of Hannah Sarah Gower, wife of Mr C. Gower, residing in Camden street, who was found dead in bed yesterday afternoon between 3.30 and 4 o''clock. It appears Mr Gower is employed at Mr Adsett''s sawmill, on Forlong''s road, as engine-driver, his work keeping him away from home during the week, and Mrs Gower was left at home with five children, ranging from 2 to 16 years of age, another child stopping with a friend at Cheltenham. The last time Mrs Gower was known to be alive was at 11 o''clock on Thursday night, when the eldest child, Lizzie, spoke to her mother. Yesterday morning Lizzie got up at 6.40, and called the second girl, Winnie, aged eleven years, and then went to a neighbour''s by whom she was employed during the day. Winnie got up, and at about 7 o''clock took the baby, which slept with her mother, and shortly after asked her mother if she would have some breakfast, but receiving no reply thought her mother was asleep and did not wish to disturb her. Winnie, who says she believes her mother moved in bed when she took the baby out, spoke to her mother at about 10 o''clock, 12 and 3 o''clock, but on each occasion received no answer. Miss Annie Talbot went to the house between 3.30 and 4 o''clock to sell War Crys and was told by Winnie that her mother had been asleep all day and she didn''t know what was the matter, whereupon Miss Talbot went to the room and found Mrs Gower was dead. The neighbors were informed of the fact and Dr. Charlton was sent for, he pronouncing that Mrs Gower had been dead for several hours. Mrs Gower, who is thirty-seven years of age, had been suffering from a weak heart for some considerable time and was told by Wellington doctors that she might die at any time. The sad occurrence has cast quite a gloom over the town and the deepest sympathy is felt for deceased''s relatives. An inquest was held this afternoon.

The Recent Sudden Death.
An inquest was held on the remains of Mrs Gower, who was found dead in bed on Friday last, at her residence, Camden street, on Saturday afternoon, before Mr J. Linton, coroner, and the following jury:- Messrs J. Gould (foreman), R. Logan, J. Toy, C. Lucas, E. Charles, G. Wickham. The witnesses examined were - Mr C. Gower (husband of deceased), Jas. Sykes (brother), Lizzie and Winnifred (sic) Gower (daughters), Mrs Talbot, and Dr Charlton. The evidence of the relatives went to show that deceased had at different times suffered from attacks of rheumatic fever, and Dr Charlton in his evidence said that any person who suffered from that complaint was almost certain to have some heart affection afterwards. The jury returned a verdict that deceasad died from an affection of the heart.
