THANKS
I BEG leave to thank my neighbors for their kindness and liberality to myself and family, and those ladies who have clothes my children, and all who have assisted in giving me a fresh start, and I would inform them that I have now resumed work.

It will be remembered that some few weeks ago Mr. James McKenzie was unfortunately burned out at the Lower Hutt. He was at the time collector of rates for the Lower Hutt Local Board, and had collected £41 6s., the whole of which was in notes, and of course was consumed by the fire. Since then the public has come forward and subscribed a considerable amount, which has enabled McKenzie to start again in business as a storekeeper, and also to pay the Board the sum of £41 6s, which was burnt. Mr. McKenzie deserves warm commendation for his honorable conduct in thus coming forward and repaying the Board, as it was through no fault of his that his money was lost, and the sum subscribed was intended entirely for his personal use.
