The wedding took place at St. James''s Church of Kathleen Millicent, daughter of Mr. A. S. Kempthorne, and the late Mrs. Kempthorne, and Arthur Leslie, son of Mrs. L. Ward. The Rev. H. E. K. Fry, who was assisted by the Rev. W. E. W. Hurst and the Rev. M. R. Pirani, performed the ceremony.
The bride, who entered the church with her father, wore a gown of floral embossed silver lame, made with a heart-shaped neckline, gathered front, and trained. The ivory tulle veil was caught to the head with a head-dress of orange blossom buds, and her bouquet was of narines and maidenhair fern. Attending her were the Misses Valerie Beere, Eira Williams and Pamela Chapman, who were frocked alike in ivory taffetas, with gathered bodices and a bias frill round the top finished with roulet work, and dainty boleros. They wore toning head-dresses and carried shower bouquets of golden chrysanthemums.
Mr. Bruce Fulton, Parnell, Auckland, was the best man, and Messrs. Gordon Markham and Brian McEwan the groomsmen. The church was artistically decorated by friends of the bride, and the service was fully choral. Mrs. H. E. K. Fry received the guests at the home of the bride, Bellevue Road, wearing a frock of black figured silk with cross-over bodice effect, and a smart black hat.
When Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Ward left, the latter wore a black suit with high lapels and buttoning down the front, her black hat being trimmed with marina and mauve ostrich plumes, and a veil was Worn over the face and tied on the top of the hat with a large bow. Her grey fox fur was the gift of the bridegroom. Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Ward''s future home will be at Takapuna, Auckland.
