JUDD family:
William and Ann left the hard times in England for a new beginning in New Zealand with their 3 sons John, George and Stephen. They arrived in New Zealand on the 14th November 1840, 6 months after William''s son William arrived in New Zealand on board the ship Bolton. Two months after their arrival in their new country, Ann gave birth to their first daughter Harriet in Petone. They went on to have 5 more children in their new homeland. Mr Thomas Jackson, an old resident of Kumeroa, died last night, at the age of eighty. Deceased had been in good health up to a day or two ago. He retired as usual last night, but shortly afterwards was discovered to be dead. The late Mr Jackson was formerly a resident of Wairarapa, and forty years ago was a resident of Invercargill.— Association.

The death is announced at Kumeroa of Mr. Thomas Jackson. The deceaed had been a resident of the district for a number of years, but previous to that he resided in the South Island. He was over 80 years of age, and has left a widow and a large family.

The death of Mrs Harriet Jackson, widow of the late Thomas Jackson, of Kumeroa, occurred on March 17th. The deceased was the eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs William Judd, Lower Hutt, who were among the pioneers of Wellington, and was born on January 6th, 1841. After her marriage with the late Mr Thomas Jackson, she resided with him for some time in Greytown. They went to the Woodville district in 1883, and were farming with their sons at Kumeroa until the death of Mr Jackson in August, 1907. The deceased lady leaves a grown-up family. They consist of Messrs William Jackson, Takapau; Thomas Jackson, Woodville; Stephen: Jackson, Matamau; Philip Jackson, Rotorua; Alfred Jackson, Palmerston North; Mrs J. Fisher, New Plymouth; Mrs Thomas and Mrs W. Baker, Woodville, and Mr Leonard Jackson, Hopelands.
