HIRST - HOOPER - On December 15, 1864, at Christ''s Church, Taitai (sic), Lower Hutt, Selina Annie, daughter of the late Mr. George (sic) Hooper, to John Wm. Hirst both of the Hutt.

GOLDEN WEDDING.
On Tuesday, December 15, at their residence. Arnott-street, Feilding Mr and Mrs John Hirst, two well known residents of Feilding and the Sandon district, where they have resided since their arrival from the Hutt district in 1873, celebrated their golden wedding. They were married at the Taitia (sic), Lower Hutt, at Christ''s Church, by the Rev. Mr Herring in the year 1864. Mrs Hirst was a daughter of the late Mr George (sic) Hooper, a well-known resident of the Hutt district in the early days. Mr and Mrs Hirst have had a family of eleven, of whom ten are still living. The sons are George and Frank (Carnarvon), William and Thomas (Sanson), Sydney (Pahiatua, and the youngest son, Norman (Feilding). The daughters are Mrs Alex. Ross (Stratford), Mrs Steven (sic) Avery (Sanson), Mrs John Greer (Ohakea), and Mrs John McDonald (Mangaweka). There are thirty-seven grandchildren, of whom two are married, and four great-grandchildren. There was a large and representative gathering of members of the family present to celebrate the occasion and they gave Mr and Mrs Hirst some useful and costly presents in honour of the event. Mr and Mrs Hirst were also the recipients of numerous letters and telegrams of congratulation from friends and relatives in various parts of New Zealand.

THE Friends of Mr JOHN HIRST are respectfully informed that the Funeral of his late wife Selina Ann will leave his residence, Pharazyn Street, TO-MORROW (Sunday), DECEMBER 15, at 2.20 p.m. for the Sandon Cemetery. The funeral will pass through Sandon about 3.30.
