The Grand Garden Fete, organised by the Church people of Tenui, was held on Saturday last, and proved an unqualified success. The object of the Fete was to pay off the small debt remaining on the Church of The Good Sheperd, and to provide for fencing the same.

While everyone worked with a will, special praise is due to Mrs H. A. Nevins, who organised the Fete, who went home very tired, but very happy at the result of the day''s proceedings.

A tribute to the memory of the late Mr. H. E. (sic) Nevins, of Makuri, was paid by Mr. W. J. Polson at to-day''s meeting of the Dominion Executive of the New Zealand Farmers'' Union. He said that the late Mr. Nevins had been a loyal and staunch member, and on his motion a vote of condolence with the deceased''s relatives was carried.
