ELDERLY MAN MISSING

EKETAHUNA, This Day,
Mr. Alexander (sic) Falkner, aged 85, a former well-known civil engineer, wandered from a farm on Monday afternoon in scrub country. Search parties of over 100, under Constable McCowan, have scoured the country continuously but have found no trace of the missing man. The weather is still cold, but it has cleared.

MISSING MAN FOUND DEAD

EKETAHUNA, June 15.
The body of Mr. Alfred Falkner, aged 84, who had been missing from Kaiparoro since Monday afternoon, was found this afternoon under a large rimu log, where apparently he had taken shelter. Indications were that he had died of exposure. Mr. Falkner, who was an old surveyor, followed the custom of leaving his hat on a stake to show the direction in which he had travelled — a surveyor''s landmark.
