Wairarapa Daily Times 23 January 1915
Mrs THomas Dew, of Clareville, died on Thursday night, after a short illness. The deceased lady was born on the Lady Nugent, on the way out to New Zealand, 74 years ago. She leaves ten children and numerous grand and great-grandchildren. Mrs G. Ward and Mrs T. Braggins, of Masterston, are two of the daughters. Mrs Dew was for 45 years a resident of Carterton.
Wairarapa Daily Times 26 January 1915
A remarkable coincidence occurred over the demise of the late Mrs Dew, who died at Carterton recently. Both she and her husband, who predeceased her, were 79 years of age at their death, they both died on a Thursday, at the same hour, 10.30 p.m., and both are buried in section 74.
Evening Post 27 January 1915
Last week an old Carterton identity died, Mrs. Elizabeth Dew, widow of the late Mr. Thomas Dew. The deceased, who was 74 years of age, died at the residence of her daughter, Mr. R. N. Wallis, was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Stordley (sic), and was born on the Lady Nugent, that arrived here in 1841. In 1858 she married Mr. Dew at the Hutt, but for forty-three years she lived at Carterton. There were five sons and five daughters of the marriage, forty-three grandchildren, and twenty-three great-grandchildren. Mrs. G. Ward and Mrs. T. Braggins, of Masterton, are daughters of the deceased.
