A SAWMILLER''S DEATH.
THE FATAL ACCIDENT TO MR. BURT.
Further particulars concerning the death of Mr William Burt, sawmiller, Whiteman''s Valley, who was accidentally killed between two logs on 12th inst., have been received by the police. From evidence at the inquest it appears that two of the deceased''s employees were jacking a large log off a truck on to the skids, where there were more logs. After giving orders to this effect, Mr. Burt walked away. The log was jacked off, and deceased, who, hidden from view, must have been attending to the skids on the opposite side, with his face turned the other way, was caught between the timbers, his neck being broken, and death instantaneous. The log was quickly removed, but deceased did not move again. The enquiry was held before Mr. G. L. Lay, J.P., and a verdict of accidental death returned no blame being considered attachable to any one.
