The funeral of the late Mrs Mary Ann Balls, relict of the late James Balls, formerly of Castle Hedingham, Essex, England, took place at the Hawera Cemetery on Friday, a large number of friends attending. The deceased lady, who 84 years of age and who had been in the Dominion for about 34 years, and resident in Hawera for about 16 years, leaves a family of four (two sons and two daughters) to mourn their loss. The sons are Mr David Balls, of Hutt, and Mr Nathaniel Balls, of Johnsonville, and the daughters, Mrs Melvern, of Auckland, and Mrs Kemp, Lake road, Hawera
