WEDDING BELLS.
SEARLE—CARTER.
A very pretty wedding was solemnised at the Anglican Church, Taita, on Wednesday last, when Alma, only daughter of Mr and Mrs A. Searle, of Taita, was married to Mr Gerald Lionel Carter, son of Mrs Carter and the late Mr W. Carter, of Lower Hutt. The church was packed to its capacity with friends and relatives of the contracting parties, the ven. Archdeacon Hansell being the officiating clergyman. Mrs Ronning gave a splendid rendering of the wedding march. The bride, who entered the church accompanied by her brother, Mr J. Searle, wore an exquisite frock of ivory crepe'' de chine trimmed with silver lace and her beautiful embroidered veil was held in place with a coronet of orange blossom. She carried a bouquet of white roses, cyclamen, and freesias and asparagus and maidenhair fern. She was attended by Miss Phyllis Carter, as bridesmaid who wore a pretty frock of salmon-pink georgette, and coronet of gold leaves and pink tulle. She carried a bouquet of Iceland poppies and autumn flowers and maidenhair fern. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr L. Langford.
After the ceremony a reception was held at the Avalon Tea Rooms when Mrs Searle, dressed in a stylish, frock of fawn repp with black repp coat received a large number of guests. Mrs Carter (mother of the bridegroom), was attired in a smart frock of black georgette and black repp coat. The usual complimentary toasts were proposed and honoured.
Among the many friends present were the bride''s grandparents, Mr and Mrs Blyth, of Wellington.
The happy couple were the recipients of many beautiful and useful presents, congratulatory telegrams, and expressions of goodwill.
Later the bride and bridegroom left for the South where their honeymoon is to be spent.

...
TAITA.
In the report presented to the Taita householders, the committee stated that the buildings were in a fair state of repair, though urgently requiring a new coat of paint. The Education Board''s promise of a new dividing fence had also not been given effect to. The attendance of children, it was noted, was not altogether satisfactory, but their passes were fairly good. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £5 17s 4d, which the committee considered to be very satisfactory, in view of the fact that the capitation allowed, by the Education Board was but small. The assistant teacher, Miss Sullivan, having been granted six months'' leave of absence, through ill-health, an assistant was appointed. The new committee was elected as follows : W. F. Edwards (chairman re-elected), Wm. Cleland (secretary-re-elected), Job C. Mabey, M. W. Welch, Wm. Kilminister, Walter Moore, Robert August.

AN ACCIDENT
A somewhat serious collision took place on Saturday afternoon in the Silverstream Gorge, between a bicycle ridden by a young man named Robert August, of the Taita, and a car driven by Mr. White, of Karori. It appears that the driver of the car, in attempting to avoid a collision, ran over the bank at the roadside, the car turning over, and for a time the occupants were pinned underneath. Ultimately, however, they managed to crawl out without having sustained much injury. The cyclist, however, was not so fortunate, sustaining considerable injuries to his head and face, besides a broken collarbone and a dislocated thigh. He was removed by Mr. G. Anson, of Lower Hutt, to Nurse Holmes''s Private Hospital, where he was this morning reported to be progressing favourably. It is understood that the occupants of the car were able to return home, and that the car received but slight damage.

MILK ADULTERATION
Alexander Doull, for whom Mr E. P. Bunny appeared, was charged at Lower Hutt Court, before Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M to-day, with selling milk containing 7 per cent, of added water. Formal evidence was given by John Lerwell, Inspector under the Sale of Food and Drugs Act. For the defence, Mr. Bunny called Mr. H. A. Ward, an ex-inspector of dairies and secretary and manager of the Wellington Dairy Farmers Association, who gave evidence regarding the good character of defendant, and said it was not possible for dairymen to make a test of their morning''s milk, as, before this could be done, the milk had to be five hours'' old. Also that the lactometers were not reliable.
The Magistrate said that an offence had been committed, but that it was rather a difficult matter to arrive at the penalty, as all cases were not equal. Defendant''s reputation must be taken into consideration. This was evidently an isolated offence. Defendant would be fined £3, with 17s 6d costs.
R. August, similarly charged, with selling milk having 5 per cent added water, pleaded guilt, Mr. Bunny again calling Mr. Ward, who gave defendant an excellent character. A fine of £3 and 17s 6d costs was recorded.
George Mitchell was charged with selling milk having 18 per cent, of added water, and was convicted and fined £7 with 7s costs.
