An accident af a painful nature was sustained by Mr. T. M. Wilford, Captain of the Epuni Football Club, during the progress of the Wellington-Epuni match at the Hutt on Saturday. It appears that as he was running after the ball his light leg crossed one of F. Pownall''s legs, and the result was a fracture above the ankle. The injured man was carried out on to the road and placed in his mother''s trap, which happened to be passing at the time, and was driven home with all promptitude. His father, Dr. Wilford, was unfortnnately not at home at the time, and Dr. Whitehead was also absent, and it was some little time before surgical aid was available. The broken limb was, however, bound up by his friends, and we are glad to learn that he is progressing favourably.

The annual dinner given by the United Hunt Club to the farmers of the Hutt was held in Welch''s Hall at the Taita last night. The master of the Hunt (Mr. D. G. A. Cooper) was in the chair, Mr. A. Wylie being vice-chairman. The catering arrangements were in the hands of Mr. T. Oxenham, of Petone. The toast of "The Farmers of the Hutt" was proposed by the Master, and responded to by Messrs. Milne and King. Mr. Milne gave the toast of "The United Hunt Club," and it was acknowledged by the Master. Songs, recitations, &c., were contributed by Messrs. T. M. Wilford, F. W. Haybittle, E. T. Sayers, and others. A dance followed.

TOMATO-GROWERS CONFER
RAVAGES OF BLIGHT.
In view of the havoc wrought upon tomato crops in the Hutt Valley by blight the season, a large meeting of growers was held in Epuni Hamlet, Lower Hutt, last evening. Mr. T. M. Wilford was voted to the chair.
A lengthy discussion on the subject tooK place, and the outcome was that the Hutt Valley Tomato Growers'' Association was formed, and it was resolved that the executive should wait on the Prime Minister as soon as possible, and place the matter before him.
The executive set up is as follows, Messrs. Howard, Brassell, Tilbury, Dorne, Pemberton, and Martin.
The following motion was carried on the motion of Mr. Brassell, seconded by Mr. Howard:- "That, as the successful growing of tomatoes is of great importance to the growers in New Zealand and the public, this meeting resolves that the time has arrived when the Government should be approached and requested to establish an experimental glasshouse for the growing of tomatoes, and also the undertaking of field experiments, so that the various diseases affecting tomatoes may be Watched and controlled, and eventually destroyed; and that the Government be requested to communicate with other countries, in order, if possible, to discover a remedy."
At the conclusion of the meeting a hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr. Wilford for calling the meeting and presiding.

WILFORD MEMORIAL WINDOW
St. James''s Church, Lower Hutt, was crowded at the morning service yesterday, when the Bishop of Wellington, the Rt. Rev. H. St. Barbe Holland, was present to unveil and dedicate the beautiful stained glass window placed, in the church by Lady Wilford and members of the family in memory of the late Sir Thomas Mason Wilford. The congregation was a representative one., including Lady Wilford and members of the family. Well known hymns were sung, including "Abide With Me." The Bishop preached from Revelations 21, verse 18: "The city was pure gold, like unto clear glass." His Lordship spoke of the way in which beautiful stained glass in so many of the cathedrals and ancient churches of England had been smashed by enemy air raids. He spoke of the noble example of Christian character shown in the life of the late Sir Thomas.
