DAIRYMEN FINED
BREACHES OF REGULATIONS
Thomas Mitchell and George James Mitchell, licensed dairymen of Stokes Valley, for whom Mr. C. R. Barrett appeared, were fined £2 by Mr. J. H. Salmon, S.M., at the Lower Hutt Magistrate''s Court yesterday, for allowing a can containing stale milk, and likely to endanger the purity of the milk for sale, to remain within the milk-house, £2 for failing to coat the cowshed with a lime wash; and £1 for not sweeping out the shed immediately after milking.
Mr. W. Wilson, Inspector of Factories, who prosecuted, stated that the defendants had caused a considerable amount of trouble and had failed to observe the regulations even though repeatedly warned.
Mr. Barrett contended that the offences, if committed, were of a trivial nature. The shed had since been whitewashed, and the inspector had found the shed unswept only because he had called immediately after milking.
