SUDDEN DEATH AT MAKARA.
At half-past five o''clock this morning, the dead body of a young man, named Samuel Trotter, aged 25, was found at the rear of the Makara schoolhouse. It has been ascertained that the deceased was a spectator at a ball held at Makara last night, being last seen in the dancing-room half an hour after midnight. At that time he appeared to be in good health, and taking an interest in the proceedings. He did not however, participate in the dance, giving to a friend as a reason that his leg was still sore from the effects of a kick from a horse, received about six months ago. Later on he was found sitting on a form at the back of the schoolhouse, where he had been sick. A cup of tea was then taken to him, and after that he appears to have been forgotten, his friends probably thinking he had made his way home. When found this morning, the body was still warm. Dr. Tripe was immediately sent for, and decided to hold a post mortem examination of the body, to ascertain the cause of death. An inquest will probably be held in due course.
