About forty persons were present, and at supper time the guest was presented by Mr. Eales (on behalf of friends) with a wristlet watch. Mrs. Swain and Mrs. Minogue also presented Pte. Pilcher with a safety razor.

The wedding was recently celebrated at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. John Pilcher, of Nai Nai-lane, Lower Hutt, by the Rev. James McCaw, of Knox Church. Mr. John George Frederick Pilcher (a returned soldier), only son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Pilcher, to Miss Lilian May Booth, second daughter of Mr. and the late Mrs. W. Booth, of Wairarapa. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr. Ernest W. Booth, was dressed in a grey tailor-made costume, with lemon picture hat, and carried a pretty shower bouquet of a variety of spring flowers with maidenhair fern —the gift of Mr. Ward, of Woburn-road, Lower Hutt. The chief bridesmaid was Miss May Pilcher, who wore a pretty dress of apricot crepe-de-chine, a black picture hat, and carried a bouquet of spring flowers and maidenhair fern. Mr. Eddie Hall was best man. After the ceremony the wedding breakfast was held at the residence of the bridegroom''s parents. The Rev. J. McCaw presided. The day was concluded with dancing, in which the younger members of the party participated. Vocal and pianoforte selections were rendered, and a very enjoyable evening was spent.
