A quiet wedding took place at Wimbledon on May 14th, the contracting parties being Mr William Peck, second son of Mr Richard Peck, of Dannevirke, and Miss Minnie Sargent, youngest daughter of Mr John Sargent, of Lake Farm. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. A. Grant, of Dannevirke. Miss Mary Bond, niece of the bride, acted as bridesmaid. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr George B. S. Sargent, was tastefully attired in a plain figured muslin gown. The bridesmaid was also attired in muslin. After the ceremony about 60 guests sat down to dinner, which was provided by the bride''s parents. A large number of presents were received, showing the esteem in which the young couple are held. A dance was held in the evening in the woolshed, which was decorated with evergreens. After the dance the bride and bridegroom left for their home amidst the good wishes of everyone present.

DANNEVIRKE, Aug. 26
The inquest on William Peck, whose body was found hanging in a woolshed at Waione, showed that deceased had been despondent of late worrying over the prosepective prices of wool and mutton during the coming season. He told a neighbour that he would be better off dead. The coroner found that death was due to strangulation through hanging while suffering from mental depression.
