ELLIOTT.- On 14th February, at the Nai Nai, after a short illness, Edward Elliott, late of H.M. 65th Regiment; aged 82 years.

An old 65th man, Edward Elliott, died at the Nai Nai, yesterday at the age of 82 years. Deceased, who succumbed to an attack of influenza, was well like and widely respected.

Another of Hutt''s old settlers departed on Monday night in the person of Mr E Elliott, who died at the residence of his son-in-law, Mr John Neil, Nai Nai (sic). Deceased left England with his regiment, the 65th, in charge of a party of couvicts for Tasmania in the early forties, and arrived in N.Z. in 1848. Deceased celebrated his 82nd birthday a fortnight ago, upon which date he was attacked with influenza which caused his death. Deceased was of a remarkably active and genial disposition and leaves a widow and six daughters and two sons, and a large number of grandchildren to mourn their loss.
