On Saturday morning the friends of Mr Jas Harris, of Ohakea, were
advised that he had succumbed to the persistent disease that had so long claimed him as a victim. His death took place at Palmerston Hospital. It is about two years since Mr Harris first underwent an operation for what appeared a local growth on his lip; and at the time it appeared that no further trouble would ensue from the same cause. Unfortunately the growth made its re-appearance, and in spite of all that medical skill and nursing could accomplish only temporary relief could be given. The late Mr Harris was a man who has always borne the goodwill and respect of the inhabitants of the district. A kind father, a conscientious workman, and a good settler, who has been the breadwinner for a growing family of ten children, ranging down to two years of age, has been untimely called away. Mrs will have the sympathy of all in her great hardship and bereavement. Advocate.
