FATAL ACCIDENT - We are sorry to have to record the death of Mr. Wm. Dew, sen., of Valley End Farm, Hutt, under the following painful circumstances. It appears that deceased was riding home from the Upper Hutt on Saturday last, on Mr. Giles timber dray, when about half way between Mr. Barton''s and the Silver Stream be fell off between the fore and hind wheels the latter passing over his body in such a manner as to cause instant death. The deceased (who was one of the earliest settlers) served in the Guards at the Battle of Waterloo. He has left a wife and numerous family to deplore his untimely end

The Friends of Mr. WM. Dew are respectfully invited to attend the Funeral of his Mother, ANN REBECCA DEW, (Wife of the late Wm. Dew), to leave Quin-street, Wellington, on Friday, the 29th February, 1884, at noon, and to arrive at the Church of England Cemetery, Taita, Lower Hutt, at 3 o''clock, p.m.
