Mr. Geo. Death, a settler of some thirty-one years standing, passed away peacefully at the Taita yesterday, from old age. Mr. Death was an octogenarian, having passed the allotted span of three score and ten by some twelve years. The deceased, who came of a good old stock of English yeomen farmers, followed his four sons, who had preceded him to the colony about ten or eleven years, arriving here either in 1859 or 1860. The old gentleman settled in the Hutt district on his arrival, and there pursued the occupation of farming, which he followed up to the time of his death. Mr. Death was highly respected, and the example he set to younger farmers in the district will no doubt bear its fruits in the future.
